Foothill Resource Management has been providing Forest Consulting to both private and state owned land since 1993. Take a look at some of the services we provide and how we can you with your land.
Under the Z’berg-Nejedly Forest Practice Act, the State of California requires that any private landowner who wishes to harvest timber from their land for commercial purposes must have a timber harvesting document prepared by a Registered Professional Forester (RPF) prior to harvest. The Forest Practice Rules of the State of California are the most stringent in the United States, and possibly in the entire world. An approved timber harvesting document is the “functional equivalent” to an Environmental Impact Report in California, and assesses potential impacts to all natural resources.
Since 1993, Foothill Resource Management has prepared over 400 timber harvesting plans and Non-industrial Timber Management Plans for a large number of landowners. Steve Q. Cannon, RPF #2316, has been a forester since 1976 and has worked for the USFS in four states, Utah State University, Weyerhaueser Co., and the U.S. Agency for International Development in two Latin American countries.

An extensive document (usually 75-150 pages) that gives a detailed description of where timber will be harvested, how it will be harvested, protection measures to be employed for watershed, wildlife and soil protection.
If a landowner wishes to clear a small area on their timberland for the construction of a house, barn, workshop, orchard, cannabis grow, etc., the state requires that the landowner submit this document because the land will be converted to a non-timber use.
California Forestry Improvement Program (CFIP) and the USDA Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) are programs that we can help you get signed up for to improve the forest health, productivity and fire safety of your property.
California requires this survey for development projects in the oak woodland zone. We can help you show the state that your property development plans will not impact oak woodlands, or we can give you advice on how to mitigate the impacts of your development.
We can produce quality lumber from logs harvested from sustainably managed forests. These logs can come from your property or from other properties managed by Foothill Resource Management.
As a Registered Forester and private owner of 138 acre tree farm, I am committed to helping land owners maximize their benefits while maintaining nature, sustainability, and compliance with the State of California.
